When to Get Your Eyes Checked

Some people believe that if their eyesight is fine, and they don’t wear or need glasses, they never have to visit the eye doctor. This could not be further from the truth. Everyone should have at least one eye exam done annually to be sure that there are no underlying issues with the eyes. However, for some people, one eye exam each year isn’t enough.

Signs to Watch For
There are certain red flags that are important to pay attention to. Anyone experiencing any of the following issues with their vision should make an appointment with their eye doctor to rule out any serious conditions and get to the bottom of what’s causing the issues.

Signs an eye exam may be needed are:
Blurry, wavy, haloed, or double vision
Trouble seeing at night or in low light
Difficulty adjusting to light changes
Trouble focusing on computer screens
Feeling pressure in one or both eyes
Eye strain or fatigue
Reoccurring headaches
Any other changes or symptoms that are concerning

Health Conditions that Require Eye Exams
In addition to all of these red flags, there are certain health conditions that make it very important to see an eye doctor regularly. People suffering from diabetes, motion sickness, and recent head trauma should be sure to make more frequent appointments, especially if they are having vision issues.

Keep Eyes Happy and Healthy
Seeing an eye doctor regularly is an important part of staying healthy. Individuals who haven’t had an eye exam recently or who are noticing vision changes should make an appointment right away. Exams are quick, easy, and painless and most issues can be corrected almost immediately. Regular eye exams are the best way to ensure a lifetime of clear, comfortable vision.
